Wright Brothers National Memorial the first national park to test self-drive shuttle
CASSI at Kill Devil Hills on the NC Outer Banks is being tested to take guest around the Wright Brothers National Memorial
Isn't it great when a friend tips you off to something cool that you definitely don't want to miss?
That was the case during our first post-pandemic overnight trip in 14 months. We chose the NC Outer Banks since it's an easy drive from home, and a place we love because it's where we met, fell in love and got married there. Perfect, right?
This trip was also a bit of a throwback as neither of us had climbed to the top of the Wright Brothers monument literally in decades. So we set out to explore the upgraded visitors center with interactive displays and that big Kill Devil Hill that inspired Wilbur and Orville to take to the skies and make history on December 17, 1903.
While we were on site, we got a text from a friend who had read that this national park was the first in the U.S. to test a self-driving shuttle. So of course we checked it out. Very cool. Read our full story here on the Outer Banks blog.
